Andersen’s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability is more than a trend or slogan. Our commitment goes back as far as Andersen itself – more than 100 years. It is in our nature, our company culture, and every product we create.
We are starting this blog to share information about Andersen’s sustainability efforts and to learn about ideas that can help all of us do more for the environment. We think this is an exciting new way to contribute to the conversation on such an important issue. After all, Andersen is continually finding ways to make our windows and doors more energy efficient… why not our communications, too?
Andersen Corporation manufactures millions of wood windows and doors. Our largest manufacturing facility and company headquarters is located on the St. Croix River in Bayport, Minnesota – a nationally protected scenic waterway. For more than 100 years we have been doing business and living in harmony with the river in this beautiful valley, and our commitment to sustainability touches every part of our existence here.
From our careful selection of wood suppliers that engage in responsible forestry management to the wood by-products we use to power our manufacturing facility with renewable energy, we use materials efficiently. In fact, Andersen uses more than 98.5% of its manufacturing materials beneficially – meaning minimal waste. Our products are also made with long-term sustainability in mind.
As vice president of sustainability and quality at Andersen Corporation, I’m proud of our high standards and commitment to continued progress.
