Green Builder Media’s VISION House series continues in Orlando, FL for this week’s International Builder’s Show (IBS). The VISION house incorporates energy efficiency and sustainable building practices as well as preserving the architectural flavor of its southern bungalow – style neighborhood, all while maintaining affordability.
As the exterior appearance blends well among other homes on the block, one might be surprised to learn it’s waterproof, hurricane-proof and highly insulated due to its concrete formed walls. Partnering well with this solid and energy efficient envelope are its Andersen 100 Series windows made from Fibrex® which contain 40% pre-consumer reclaimed wood fiber. Also being used are Andersen 400 Series patio doors.
The VISION House series includes demonstration homes showcasing the latest in green technologies and products. Each home addresses specific issues around land use and orientation, energy use, water conservation, waste management, indoor environment quality as well as products and materials. Andersen windows contribute to these goals with their Energy Star rating and SCS Indoor Air Quality certification.
